We can still add people to this trip as long as rooms are available. We have given back our extra airline seats. Airfare prices are climbing rapidly. I would suggest arranging your own airfare.
Our price is now over $400.
CheapOAir.com has our original flights for $368.
Delta flight 604 out of Philly is only $333.
Subtract $352 from the price below.
In the same time it takes to get to the New England ski areas, you could be skiing in waist deep powder on over 8,000 acres of terrain!
This is the cheapest way to ski out west! Lowest price! Best Value!

Join us for three days of skiing in Utah: two at Snowbasin and one at Powder Mountain. You will have over 8,000 acres to ski. Snowbasin has 104 trails and Powder Mountain has 113 trails. The snow is fantastic. Snowbasin gets an average of 400 inches each year. Powder Mountain gets an astounding 500 inches (over 40 feet!). And it is the Champaign powder that Utah is famous for. Don’t just ski this winter, make a memorable trip to the best snow on the planet!
I know that many people who don’t live in Utah, have no idea what the Ogden area is like. I posted some picture pages to show what the area is like. I took the pictures at the end of last season. Take a look at the Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, and Ogden Picture pages. Also visit the links at the bottom of the page to see more. A link to the Warren Miller segment from “Off the Grid” is at the top left of this page.
With hardly any crowds, you can enjoy all of this terrain without spending a long time waiting in lift lines. You will be free to experience great snow on huge mountains without dealing with massive lift lines. There are big plans for expansion at both resorts and for a third resort that will have skiing right to the Ogden City limits. Ski it now, before all the crowds arrive!
Lodging will be at the Ogden Marriott about 20 minutes from the slopes. We will have a bus take us to the slopes in the morning and back again after the lifts close. I am checking on the shuttle bus situation. Last year, the Marriott had two shuttles (one for each resort) that ran once each hour. I want to make sure that people who want to leave later in the morning or return earlier in the afternoon can do so.
The Marriott is half a block (across the parking lot) from Historic 25th Street.
Historic 25th Street is a three-

New this year is the Salomon Center. It has all sorts of things to do if the slopes
don’t tire you out. There is indoor skydiving, rock climbing, and surfing. For
the less strenuous activities, there is bowling, putt-
Here is an article from the New York Times about Ogden. It is mostly about summer activities, but it gives you a feel for the town.
Our flight on Delta departs BWI at 5:10 on Friday. We will arrive in Salt Lake City at 8:04. The hotel is less than an hour from the airport. We will have refrigerators in the rooms. We’ll make a quick stop at the grocery store on the way in.
Breakfast is included at the Marriott. It includes a breakfast buffet with hot items on one side cold items on the other.
Our shuttle will pick us up at the Marriott. We will use a shuttle bus from the mountain resort along with the hotel shuttle. If you want to go late or return early, choose this option.
SHUTTLE TIMES
The shuttles basically run one hour round trips. They will depart from the mountain about half an hour after they leave the Marriott.
We will ski at SnowBasin on Saturday and Monday. SnowBasin is the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics. From the top of the Men’s Downhill, you can look over the backside and see Ogden and the Great Salt Lake.
The Marriott is down there somewhere.
Forty five percent of Snowbasin’s 2,820 acres is intermediate blue runs. Of course, forty four percent is either black diamond or double black diamond runs. Snowbasin has plenty of variety for everyone. With twelve lifts, including a tram, 2 gondolas, and a high speed quad, you will have no problem getting up the hill.
Nearly everyone who has been there has to mention the granite and marble restrooms that are straight out of the Waldorf Astoria. The lodges are very impressive and the food is well above what is normally served slope side.
This is the cafeteria! .

We will ski at Powder Mountain on Sunday. Powder Mountain said they would have mountain hosts for us to show us around the resort. The place is huge! For those of you who picked up a Hidden Lake Express/Powder Country trail map and thought that was the whole resort, you need to get the other trail map.
Powder Country is only a quarter of the resort. It is in bounds “back country” skiing. Because it is not groomed, all trails are marked black diamond or double diamond (they would be blues and blacks in the groomed areas). Powder Country is served by the shuttle bus that runs between the main lodge and the ski school.
You can take a snowcat ($8) up to Lightning Ridge. Lightning Ridge is essentially
out-
For the less adventurous, try the lift serviced terrain. Here you will find groomed runs. Actually, most runs are half groomed. The other half is left natural, so you can choose to ski on some of the over 500 inches of powder that they get each year or you can choose to ski the groomed slopes.
